Rock Rimmon: My Rock, My Sunset

by Aline   May 17, 2004

Where do we go from here
as we sit on the top of the rock-
just you and I-
talking and admiring the beauty
as we watch the sunset,
behind the clouds
and overlooking the city-
glowing underneath
with colors so vibrant and gorgeous
purple, pink and orange-
the wondrous miracle
of the setting sun from atop
Rock Rimmon-
so high above everything else,
so close to the sky
that it almost feels like
I could reach up to
kiss the clouds
as I feel the wind whipping through my hair
this brings tears to my eyes
how much time is left
till the sun disappears
beneath the clouds
and the sunset is no more?
I can no longer gaze upon
the beauty
or thank the Father
for His creation
where do we go from here,
as I wipe away the tears
and start the journey
back to the real world
that awaits my return
with out-stretched hands-
no, let me stay here.
on top of Rock Rimmon,
where I feel safe
and much closer to God,
to gaze at the sunset...
from the top of Rock Rimmon
where do we go from here?
