Heres an idea, lets sue Myspace.

Ok so as you probably know, there is a girl who's parents are going to or have already sued Myspace.

    Why?

Because she met a guy on there, then decided to trust a guy 1,000 miles away. So when she invited him to travel to see her half way across the country, with out her parent's knowledge, he ended up raping her.

Now, I hope I'm not alone when I say her case against myspace is completely idiotic. I mean isn't it internet 101 not to invite people you meet on the internet to your home, or to give away any personal information of the internet?

If you are stupid enough to trust someone just because you think they are nice, then you need to have the computer taken from you.

I don't see how you can blame a site like Myspace for that, I mean it's true, they met there. But isn't it ALSO true that they could have met on any chat room, or other site? Yes, I do believe it is. So while they're at it, why not sue the internet service for allowing their daughter to connect to such sites. Or why not the people who invented the internet, I mean aren't they the start of it all?

It's oveous her parents should take no responsibility what so ever, because it's not like it's there job to monitor their own daughter's internet use. And it is COMPLETELY Myspace's fault. Even though she stuck herself out there, gave him information to a man she didn'tknow at all.

Her case is like blaming Mcdonalds for you being fat. It is not they who are shoving the food down your throat, they are simply giving you what you asked for. It's your choice to do what you want.

So tell me what you think. I have given my opinion.

I agree, it's a completely idiotic accusation. The girl was a bimbo, sorry to be rude, in giving her personal information to this person. I feel bad for her beacused sje was raped, but you think someone would be smarter.

LMAO about the Mcdonalds...thats so weird thats the example I said to my mom...

I am sooo with you on this one...c'mon hun it wasn't myspaces fault that YOU and HIM created an account..and it wasnt their fault that YOU and HIM decided to meet..common sense...

maybe it's the parents' fault, and they'd rather start blaming something else besides themselves.

Yeah, i agree...but really...why would someone in their right mind go and meet some stranger she met on the internet...how stupid do you have to be?>??...And they're sueing myspace??....Wow....what are they going to say.."oh well we let our daugter use ur site and there she met a guy and invbited him to come and see her, giving him all her information..and so now we want to sue you because our daughter got raped and we werent watching out for her"...yeah..they're gunna win that case for sure....:|
and im pretty sure that in the agreement for that site it says that u should not reveal personal info and not go meet anyone..or something like that...all those kinds of sites have that....so its her own fault..and where were the parents looking..??...wow....thats pretty stupid...that angers me..well yep..i think im done:)

    Ooookay. They won't get anything.

I think that you can meet some really nice people over the internet. But there are always the bad ones. And its completely idiodic for her to go out and meet him if obviously in the first place she didnt know him well enough to know he is the kind of person who would do that. They won't win anything because its her fault she is stupid enough to meet up with him in the first place. You can meet people anywhere, on the street, and they can rape you, who is to blame then?

  • Jordan

Some people would blame anyone or anything before admitting that it was their own stupid fault.

The only thing that people can blame things like this on are lack of control.

Why can't everyone just be smart for a change!
(no offense to those who ARE smart)

    of course i agree.
I mean everyone tells you, never give out personal information on the internet, ever!
But people still do, so its not myspace's fault.
They didnt tell her to give out information or invite this person to her house!

  • demolitionmegan

wait, wait, wait, I'm confused, how is it the girl's fault?

  • Tara Kay

so, she's naive. she's not at fault here. her parents and the guy are. she's just a victim.

Myspace Monitors The Site, And As It Has Already Been Previously Stated Myspace Warns You Never To Let Out Any Personal Info., Myspace Is Not At Fault For The Idiotic Choice That This Young Lady Has Made, I Have Remorse For Her Being Raped Because I've Been There Before It Can Be Pretty Traumatizing...But On The Other Hand I Didn't Put Myself In The Position To Be Raped Or Taken Advantage Of And She Did...So How Is Myspace At Fault?? The Parents Should've Never Let Her Get On a Website Like That If They Knew She Was Too Weak-Minded And Wasn't Capible Of Of Keeping Private Info To Herself And Watching And Avoiding Pedophiles xoxo-Nikki-xoxo

myspace PUTS on the site that you should not give out your personal information. they should not be sued. it was the girl who invited the guy to meet her, not myspace. it isnt like they said, "hey i have an idea, lets make a website where a girl can meet somebody, get raped by him, then sue us for no apparent reason! YAY!"

seriously, people are stupid in this country...

It is seriously uncomprehendable to me why news stations, (Dateline ABC), is making it seem like these girls who are getting raped are the poor, littlest victims ever known.

They are the ones who have pictures revealing things, or titles like, "I want your body!" Or songs titles that are out there these days, which are just promoting sex stuff. So why are they targeted? Ooh my, what a hard question. But then also, how do we know they didn't target their rapists?

They are the ones stupid enough to give out all this information, then go with this guy, and supposedly 'get raped'. Either they thought it was going to be some romantic date, or they gave it up... the man didn't take it forcefully. But these parents of these girls are like, "I can't believe it happened to her... this guy needs to get in jail." And then the girl gets on there and starts crying about it!

    Ugh. It disgusts me.

I use Myspace for connections with my Friends. I have my High School Group on there, how me and my fellow classman/woman stay in touch, or even people who don't live near me and has moved away! Its a great way to stay and touch. If they take that away, its foolish. Obviously parents need to stop underestimating their Kids...

It is totally the girl's fault...stupid mentality I think it is, meeting people over the internet and falling in love and all that. I just can't see that as a good method for anything at all. Must be the dumbest idea that ever came out. Myspace should take no blame for it, but an awareness streak should come out to parents or they should be slapped around and realize that 1. Don't trust your children too damn much, especially a naive teenage girl, and 2. The internet is not a safe dreamland.

I have Myspace, and my mom sees alot of it. Most of the time I invite her to look at it. Because one, even if I'm 14 I know I'm not an adult and I know there are pedofiles out there and don't feel like getting raped again, and two she can see what I'm doing in my room so it's not like I'm hiding from her. If I have something I don't want her to see, chances are it souldn't be on there, correct? Honestly parents DO need to take more action in teenagers lives.

    IT ISN'T MYSPACES FAULT.

If an ignorant girl is stupid enough to have the common sense not to meet people online, then it's her fault, not the websites.

Myspace doesn't make girls meet older guys-GIRLS MAKE THEMSELVES MEET OLDER GUYS.

So I can meet people on this site and talk to them.

Doesn't mean I'm gonna go meet anyone.

    No offense intended to anyone.

Any site, no matter what it is, has the possibility of having that exact same thing happen. Even this site, for crying out loud. It only happens because the stupid girls (who never learned from their stupid parents) think that there's this amazing guy out there waiting for them. And chances are, they've shown pictures of themselves half-naked so they could get the attention of this "amazing guy". Then, they go down there, and voila, the "amazing guy" rapes them! WHO KNEW RIGHT? lol

The only reason to sue myspace is so that the current owner, Rupert Murdoch will not ba able to make any decisions about his company.

Everything that man touches turns to crap.

He is, if you don't know, the spawn of Satan owner of FOX news [and i use the term news very loosely] and about every rag paper you care to mention.
