Weird phobia anybody?

Well, this post is for anything to do with fear really. Anything different than most. Maybe even emberassing. :P. For example, I have an impending fear of stairs. No matter who's stairs they are. My own even. My house is full of stairs, but no matter going up or down them, I always feel as if I have to run really fast. Sometimes it's because I feel there's someone/thing behind me, and other times it's because I feel like if I don't get up fast enough I'm going to fall... Oh well, it's odd yes, but my friends sure enjoy watching me run everywhere. *sigh* lol. (And like many, I'm deathly afraid of the dark.)

My b/f on the other hand has a phobia of cotton wool stuff, the itchy material that you can make sweaters out of yourself. Or even just chewing on clothing. He hates it when I do that.

My sister can't eat with metal utensils because of the noise against her teeth. She has special plastic ones. Fancy that!

And last but not least, a friend of mine can't write in pencil. Apperantly it feels weird scratching against the paper!

Hehehe, we're all so cute. lol.

I guess I'm just afraid of the normal things...but a lot of them.

    Spiders
    Public Speaking
    Drowning
    Needles

A normal one is needles. I'm absolutely terrified of them. Like last year this girl in my lunch had a sewing needle and she poked this kid next to her with it a couple times. I saw and I started freaking out, I was like shaking and my eyes kept watering.

I have a really weird fear of falling out of a moving car. So everytime I get in usually I won't touch the door and I have to have a seat belt on.

I'm pretty afraid of riding on school busses. Like I get creeped out by them, and start thinking it's gonna tip over everytime it turns a corner (I walk to school, so I only ride the buss for field trips).

Then I'm also scared of riding in elevators. I don't freak out too much, but I get really scared that it'll stop halfway up/down and I'll get stuck in there forever.

High Five your sister (original poster) I just broke that habit a year ago...I could never eat with metal it had to be plastic...when I went to resteraunts I had to bring my own.....THankfully I was like "man I can't let weird things bring me down" so I just started eating with metal and TRY SO HARD not to make that disgusting scraping noise!

Also whistling....I HATE IT...to me thats like nails on a chalkboard and I can't deal with it..if I ever hear anyone whistle I tell them to SHUT UP!...people thinks its because I cant whistle, but I can, I just hate that noise it hurts my ears and gives me goosebumps

well, i hate being alone (especially in the dark!)

and i hate it when i'm standing in a lake or something and i can't see my feet
last year my cousins and i all jumped out of my grandpa's boat into the lake and i started screaming and had to get back in
it really freaked me out because i thought something would grab my feet
    i felt so pathetic!!

^^I get the same... I can't swim, so you could say that I'm scared of deep water.

My greatest fear is of dentists. It's officially called dentophobia. Oh, and heights, that's acrophobia.... that includes vertigo, so I can't do cartwheels and gymnastics :-P

Wow. Lots of posters. I'm glad in an odd way I guess. I mean I'm glad to see there are some other people with their own personal random phobias; though, reading over them, I've found a whole nother list of things I'm afraid of.
Everything my family, friends and b/f says is true... I'm afraid of most things, 90% of things.
lol, I always questioned if I had an anxiety disorder, but I never realized so much of it was simply due to weird phobias.

I guess to add on a little list of mine (still) I'd say:

-Ear wigs. (Some people don't know what they are, but they're the creepiest, scariest bug I've ever seen in my life. Apperantly they do nothing, but teeth on your bum just isn't right... I can pick up a spider as big as my palm, but I'll run and scream and have the shiveries for days if I see an ear wig.)
-Ladders...maybe heights in general, but mostly ladders.
-things I can't see. If there was a monster(hypothetically speaking of course), and I could see it, I'd prolly reach and out and test if it's dangerous...But if there's a monster near me, that I Can't see, well then my heart will give out.
-mirrors... not only because I'm self concious, but also because I've never really heard anything good about them. I mean come on, break it and get seven years bad luck, say three words into it and a killing spirit will appear...Stare in it as you die, and be trapped forever...Where's the Good!?
-chickens, turkeys and cows...and probably most other barn animals.
-I don't know what this is called, but opposite that of closterphobia. I'm safer in a smaller room...Put me in a Large room or area where I may get lost or run into people I don't know... I'm doomed.
-most of all, People. That's right. I'm scared of people. The ones I don't know frighten me, and the ones I do, well I just don't trust the majority of them.

I'm terrified of crickets. I swear they are the devil bug. I don't know if that's weird or not.

I try to act like they don't bother me, but if I hear or see one I get very twitchy and nervous.

I'm afraid of wet socks. They are uncomfortable and they stink.

I also have the same fear as the original poster, about the stairs. But only in some circumstances. I have an internal staircase, and for example if i am downstairs, and i am the last one to go upstairs and its all dark, i have to run quickly up the stairs because i think someone is chasing after me. I'm the same when i have to put the bins out at night or something. It freaks me out heaps.

Also another one, that i don't know of anyone who has it is swings. Like.. children's swings in local parks. They freak me out soooo bad! I can go on them, but only so high before i freak out. You know how when you go up really high and the chain's slacken and you go down with a bang, i feel like they are going break off or something. It scares me so much. Everyone thinks i'm so weird.

I can't think of anything else at the moment... Hmm..

^I can understand the swing thing. Ever since I was little I would never swing too high because I'm afraid of flipping over the top. I don't think I have it as bad as you though.

I also can't stand the dark space under low objects like coffe tables, or the space underneath coaches, or beds.... When the room is dark, and I'm alone, or watching some thing scary, I get the horrible feeling a hand is going to come out from under there and dragg me down into a horrible world of torture and death.
