Hmm. I love acoustic songs. But if I am in a certain mood that a song that is about that certain mood or situation then I listen to stuff like that. Other than that, I prefer rock. =]

Rock music(its the music i listen to) but anything with good lyrics or that reminds me of something that went wrong with me normally brings out feelings, and those feelings I can transform into poetry.

AS an fanatic music lover (I have some 800 cds last count)I write to rock, alternative, pop, contemporary jazz, traditional jazz, movie soundtracks, industrial, techno, heavy metal, new age, mash-ups, new wave (the original late 70's/early 80's new wave), punk, some classical, emo, and a lot of music that can't be classified-favorites at the moment are The Stone Roses,The Rippingtons, Straylight Run, Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Eigma, Pink Floyd (always a classic), Liz Phair, Snow Patrol, A Perfect Circle, Shakira, Vince Guaraldi, Mike Oldfield (recommend Tubular Bells 2), Radiohead ( such variety in their cds), Enya, Tragically Hip, R.E.M., Coldplay,Red House Painters (slo-core rock at it's best) Led Zeppelin, Tangerine Dream, Dave Matthews Band, etc. I seem to prefer instrumental stuff as I'm not distracted by the words, at other times the lyrics can spark off an idea, just depends on what I'm in the mood to listen to/write to. Most rap, most disco and nearly all country and ALL polkas I avoid like the plague!

It depends on what type of mood I want to portray in my poetry.

For a more surreal spiritual feeling I go with Pink Floyd, or Kyuss, ya know, something spacey and out there. Anger or rage, thrash metal like Exodus, and Testament.

Generally: its about how I'm feeling or, if I'm trying to accomplish a specific message, what mood I'm wanting to invoke.

Any type of rock or metal overall: From something heavy and chaotic like Slayer, to something calm and soothing like acoustics. It all has a use.

There's way too many moods and possibilities for me to simply list here :) There's a band or genre for every style I write.

I usually don't listen to music...funny thing is, several of my poems sound like black/death metal (as in killing and all that) and I don't even like that kind of music...
