Moving On

by Dennis   Mar 23, 2008

I remember her voice
So soft...it's almost a whisper
Tears falling from her lashes
As the moment gets closer

Her pleading eyes...so moist and lost
Are desperately trying to understand
Why...with all our effort
Things cannot work out as planned

Unsteadily...she reaches up
Her fingertips caress my jaw line
In this moment of truth
I am searching for some sign

A lump in my throat...some tears
Or the racing beat of my heart
Something...anything to assure me
That we're not meant to part

The moment passes in stillness
Only the crickets singing their song
With absolute certainty I realize
That it is time to move on

This is so sad, but beautiful at the same time. Emotions many of us have experienced during our lives masterfully put into words. Great job! 5/5

This was a beautiful poem hun. I understand what you're saying, and it has to be hard. It's these experiences though that help you realize who you are and allow you to become stronger.
