For All You Have Done, Oh Deserving Lord

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 14, 2009

I don't know how to express my gratitude,
But I guess I will start with my attitude,
For blessing and gifts have poured out,
From your always open arms, no doubt.

Every friend made, each lesson learned,
Surely they weren't ever anything earned,
Freely given grace is falling down right now,
So generous that you will never disallow.

Many times selfish pride has taken control,
Left a shattered heart of mine with tiny holes,
But you willingly patched that quickly up,
Filling moral values into my now overflowing cup.

Not once did your trusting care diminish,
But strongly continued on from start to finish,
Thanking with my purified heart that has soared,
For all you have done, oh deserving Lord.

Just wrote this at the spur of the moment, there are no words that truly express the gratitude towards all that God has blessed me with. I hope you enjoyed this poem!

Again, very well done. How many writes out here are "spur of the moment" pieces? Lots. I thank God every day for all that He has given me, and for the beautiful world he made for us. In His praise, I write, and paint, and draw, and wonder. Still, I think you said it all here. Your words pour forth like a wellspring. To bring life to all.

I know i surely enjoyed this poem !
this poem was written very well for a spur of the moment thing, and i loved the little rhymes.

"Many times selfish pride has taken control,
Left a shattered heart of mine with tiny holes,
But you willingly patched that quickly up,
Filling moral values into my now overflowing cup. "

that would have to be my favourite stanza.
i loved the metaphor used here, and your choice of words, 'overflowing cup'
    oh it was great !

    i rate it a 5/5
