Waxing Dreams

by Maple Tree   Sep 15, 2012

Heated breath engulfs,
the lips of a titillating
dreamer.

Slowly, she puckers,
for a chance to
ignite the wick

of his flame less soul-

and still she waits,
for the burning to begin....

    Sunny,

I adore this. I have such a love of candles, especially soy wax candles. A beautiful alternative with no chemicals, animal fat or petroleum additives and lets not forget the amazing scents. I currently have a strawberries, cream and champagne wax melt burning!

    Onto the poem.

Of course I realize this poem isn't just about candles, I just got carried away :P I'm fond of shorter pieces so for you to come along and write a 9 line poem with short lines and say so much, well that blows me away.

"titillating dreamer" = what wonderful description.

I am also very fond of the word puckers. What I liked most about this poem was that when you first begin reading you simply imagine a woman attempting to light a candle but once you move beyond these basic ideas your mind forms you start to see the message you're creating and it really is sad. As Britt said, this is an interesting one!

I imagine a sad woman staring at a candle, and almost sucking in the air around her in anticipation for the energy to create a flame.

WOW what a seriously interesting poem! I love this.
