The Ties That Bind Us

by My Other Side   Nov 17, 2012

Not by these cords are we found
Pick one up while the other is down
We are who we are to be who we will be
Avoiding the shadows of our mystery

Cast into the garden of awful snares
By all those who claimed great cares
Promises of tomorrow that never come
Chained by the memories of a shadowy one

Try to run! Run! but the cord pulled tight
Where every day is as night, our plight
We hold on to one another, tight, very tight

What will come with the morning rain
Will it wash our tears, the mud, the pain?
Eyes wide open, never shut
Looking for that moment, never give up

By these same cords we are bound
Through the shadows of our disgust
Anchored into the depths of our soul, are
...the ties that bind us

I really like this poem. It gives me the feeling of being bound and feeling as if I would never achieve my goals. I do not know if that is how you meant it to come out. That may just be how I took it (:
