Cancer

by Ren   Dec 16, 2014

A flurry of golden hay,
Falls to the ground,
Strand by strand they sway,
Not making a sound...

Forming what seems to be,
A golden halo at my feet,
A single tear falls,
And I admit defeat...

As I realize the true reality,
Of everything,
Of how cruel and mean,
The world can be...

A pair of blue eyes,
Watch me from the mirror,
A smile I cannot find,
A reflection of utter fear...

A shiny bare surface,
Gleams up at me,
Right where your beautiful hair,
Used to be...

And in a sudden moment,
Of pure despair,
You clench at my hand,
Gasping for air...

Hands held tight,
Trembling fingers entwine,
With silent prayers of hope,
A desperate plea for more time...

A sob and a whimper,
Make me bend slightly,
Pressing my lips,
Ever so lightly.

"Beautiful."

I promise,
A weight settling in my soul.
My fingers clutch yours,
And I never let go...

The last two lines are what would make the person this is to the luckiest person in the world. Feeling such love in my opinion would be the last thing I would ever ask for. Beautiful poem as always.
