Dear Society

by Maple Tree   Nov 5, 2015

A woman in love never thinks of death
for her soulmate will be hers, always and forever.

It's a thought that truly breaks my heart.

I know that we all must die,
but a spirited love never fades,
I've been blessed with the best
and I celebrate our love daily.

I will be devastated, grief will consume my days
and fill my nights with loneliness..
Is this what they want me to say?
Or is it something they feel I should prepare
myself for...

I don't think a woman can prepare herself for such
a nightmare-
I'd rather prepare his supper tonight like
I always do, and just be thankful for another
night with him.....

Five years since his diagnosis
and his grin is just as vibrant
as the day we met.

People often look into the future
because they feel we need to brace
ourselves for change, of what is to come-

I think it's best to hold him a bit tighter
than yesterday, to love him like I always have
and to ease his pain today, than to think about his passing
later on in life....

Dear Society~

I am not living in denial, I am just living for today
and each day he breathes by my side... Loving my Man,
always and forever....

My Husband has cancer-

People often ask me what am I going to do when he passes?

My thoughts in poetic words~

Take it one moment at the time and enjoy every moment to the fullest. It is up to God.
What does it matter what society thinks and I don't believe your are in denial. When that day comes you need to grief, it don't matter how long it will take. Until then keep on praying and I will pray as well.

"I don't think a woman can prepare herself for such a nightmare - I'd rather prepare his supper....." This line, for me, sums the sentiment of this wonderful and moving poem up: Defiant, brave and filled with love.
Why succumb to misery before the event? Live every day, cherish every day - don't waste them by preparing yourself for what cannot be prepared for anyway.
This is an inspiring poem and full of inner strength that we can all take something from.
Well done, Maple, and do take care,
    Ben

This just... you both are incredible and I am so happy you found each other. My heart always goes out to you and this illustrates the strength of your love! It will always remain, through pain, through leaving the physical world.

Love how you are saying to live for today, that is truly beautiful. Others can call it what they like but being there for him in the moment is something you'll always cherish. And cherish that time with him, well I know you well.
