Ode to My Moon

by Maple Tree   Dec 26, 2015

You have been my fortress

forever my love, my fallen moon

Gaze upon my fluttering eyes

as you kiss my cheeks,

twirling me endlessly-

eternity and always.

You held my hand by the river

when I wanted to

fly away from life...

Upon and thereafter

you

became my one

true friend.

My Moon,

I fed upon your inspiration

listening to a melodic lullaby

while spring resuscitated

my soul.

Legs became twiggy

during an early winter's rain,

you saw beauty within,

always have.

I've fallen in love with you

My Moon

My Love

My Moon

    Hello,
this is delcious. The way you portray the moon as a constant, reliable friend. The one who loves unconditionally. We all need that special someone don't we?

My favourite part: when you held my hand by the river.

I can see the reflection. Just the sight fueled the will power.

Also, the word 'twiggy' - loved it!!

    A splendid piece of writing.

    Take care,

I like nature poems and I always look for rhythm, rhymes and/or flow. I must say that this one flowed smoothly without breaking the reader's thoughts and it draws a picture of love.

The moon is like a king one who sits up high and can only be admired not touched. Honestly I kept reading and re-reading to see if there was an abrupt stop in the wording of the poem and found none. A lovely read in fact its enchanting!
