Moments Of A Spring Garden

by Mark   Sep 11, 2017

Adjure adjure; entreats the scent of a yellow primrose
alluring a sweet earthy olive fragrance
uniting melodiously with the brisk Spring morn'
breezing all delicate petals like an angels' air kiss.

Fancy a butterfly drawn to the splendour
compelled to journey through hedge-grove crevices
fluttering golden wings of radial azure patches
unruly patterning the floral rainbow village.

Circularly admiring a stone basin wringing with ground ivy
concealing prayed angels carved underneath,
neighbouring primroses, white lilies
shielding daffodils whilst tulips' crimson.

Pestering a spirited robin that perched swifty upon the bath
a splash, chirp! Splash, chirp! Then again.
Seemingly most pleased to cleanse ruffled greyish wings
watering the daisies
drawing water alike an ice cream scoop.

Busy indeed for a Robin, leaping and singing,
fluting and warbling a spring day tune
curious though for a moment did bird tilt then stilled
the orange breasted bird turned and tilted more.

Fanciful idea that such miniature eyes were surveying,
appreciating the many floral sensory delights,
capturing beauty aided through master pruning,
agreeing to the suitability of a nesting site.

Quite a compliment, if so, from this gardeners friend
who have seen many an arrangement;
countless soil beds and assorted flowers,
thank you then, kind bird, fresh water always awaits you.

I can see it and I can smell it! It's beautiful and feels like you pressed "pause" to notice all the tiny nuances of everything happening in the garden. So clever! x
