Twilight rendezvous

by Michael   Oct 17, 2017

I walked deeper into the twilight where
the moon peeps through clouds, like
a marbled iris resting; between
silver lined eyelids.

clouds lifted, and revealed
the moons full lunar generosity,
showering majestic silhouettes with
shimmers of lucent satin, upon their boughs

then a sudden whoosh..

..as the invisible hand of the wind weaved
through wispy-wooded limbs
creating creaks and cracks.

Leaves fluttered, as they were swept and stirred
up; and into a swirling waltz; dancing and jigging;
swishing to their own melodic fissile.

A sensation of
excitement, flushed
through me, infused with
an eerie feeling of being in
the thick of a ghostly forest dance-hall
floating through mid-air.

I really felt as if there were some kind of presence
all around me.

The tempo dropped to a scattered whisper
and the woods were then
blanched with
silence..

..only to be broken, by a nocturnal
echoing of an owl-
a message of love
to another?
or,
maybe love had
come to haunt
me?

Its strange as I wasn’t looking
for anything, but it could
be that something
found
me!
