she can't hide forever behind those eyes

by pmmurphy   Nov 8, 2017

I'm a whisper in a dark room
where my words spark smoke

breathing me in is the best way to get high
but she wont let me intoxicate her lungs

I will not char her insides
and leave her gasping for air

if she welcomes me
allows me to seep into her pores

maybe I too can understand how black
is more than a hue but a way of living
even though the darkness pours from my skull
down to the floors

its a simple evening to understand fate

she is more than afternoons struck clean
in attics left dirty
and closets full

she wipes her outer layers with car shine
but inside she is dirty

There are a ton of images in this that really set this piece above others like it. The story is clear and concise. The emotions are well expressed and the style is interesting. Your voice was obvious without being overpowering or distracting too much from what youre trying to say.
