I no longer remember love

by Kereen   Nov 24, 2017

The summer air
The midnight sky
The mildew honey grass
Nor the clouds that pass by
A springs first love
Nor a winters end
None I can remember
None I can defend

To sit by the widow sill
Feel the cold air fill the space
To rap myself in the silk draped curtains
To try and remember your face
No kisses by the fire
No poems coming here
I no longer remember the love
that once lived here

No sweet melodies
Or humming tunes
Nor arguments on a Sunday
No more of your perfumes
No words spoken
No eyes to read my soul
I'm not a lovers token
Love left me cold

So I fill the nights with ale
Drink to my bodies content
I would say my heart
But that is old and bent
I've forgotten how simple complex love could be
On a warm Summer night with just you and me.
I've remembered but memories fade
Nothing sweeter than memories after becoming old aged
Sad but true I can't think of you
I no longer remember love
The love of me and you

This is beautifully written, yet so heartbreaking. Sometimes it’s the hardest thing; to watch you and the one you love fall apart and separate. The pain is there until it isn’t anymore, and sometimes it takes a long time to go away. Forgive, but never forget. Best lessons learned are those taught through love and heartbreak.
