The Mighty Acorn (Collaberation)

by Maple Tree   Feb 19, 2018

By Ben Pickard and Maple Tree

A small acorn, from my nature soul
has brought such beauty to this world,
leaves gather in serenade of such elegance.
with every breath the breeze whispers,
they spiral ever upward, pirouetting; dancing,
then floating downwards in a series
of multicoloured cascades,
dressing her naked limbs
in a mother's healing love.

Wise ears whistling upon
pond circles that guide a wee babe
as thunderstorms approach;
dark clouds engulf as a worried tree
becomes helpless;

and it will rain.

Her roots will become
besieged - her every fibre
tossed and stretched
by this apocalyptic downpour.

and yet

Across the deluge of water that
isolates her from nurturing hands

she still. stands. proud.

A shining star, full of strength,
beauty and the will to be brighter
than the sun...

A legacy of moonbeams
an icon, for future acorns
and all other living things
born out of nature....
