Fight or Flight

by CJ Maleney   Feb 25, 2018

I've always hated violence
And I've dodged it at a cost
I walked away from fights and fray
Called a coward, my pride and honor lost

But it never really phased me
I've always felt a greater cause
It only stings for a little while
And emotions calm and pause

However Sometimes its inevitable
When words won't sink in or appease
Sometimes you have let it loose
And you must unleash the beast

I ask nothing of woman or man
I've not ego, pride or grace
But my temper will flare at times
Then I advise, you move away

Never fond of fighting
Yet in its arts I'm trained
Words of mentors departed now
It's now my violent choice to make

It's not something I'm proud of
Not a part of me, I like or trust!
Yet all of us have this limbic process
And it fills us with disgust!

It's part of us forever,
And it may fill us with fright
But at times you must call upon the animal

!Sometimes you need to fight!

Beautiful said. It takes a strong person man or woman to walk away from a situation. Easier said then done. I am a kind of person I give you a fair earning before the animal gets a hold of me. Not a good or smart and who is to tell some people just keep pushing. And we all have our limits. Thank you for sharing and all the best to you

Craig, strong write that lays it right out there. It takes a bigger man to walk away from stupid things although just as you so eloquently put, sometimes you got to do it. Well done-

Love this Craig! The threat of your warning seeps through this piece and I can just imagine you reaching your limit of patience and exploding! Super stuff! :-) x
