Shards of Imminent Loss

by HOLLY ARMER   Aug 14, 2006

Memories
littered with confusion
and shards of imminent loss

Hands cut
on fallen tears
while rummaging through the chaos

Searching
for a glimmer
crimson mixed with aquamarine

Conquering
the darkness
while lighting the space in between

Only to find
eyes of discontent
preying fierce upon my back

Demanding
answers as they
wage an unwarranted attack

Stealing
the fragments
of the person I used to be

Killing
any chance
for me to finally be free

Tormented
by the hope
that things will someday change

Forever
trapped in a life
that constantly remains the same

*I wrote this based on a piece of art. Here's a link to the painting:

This was an okay piece, I think. What most intrigued me was the structure, very unique, and rather nice. The words themselves were quite good too, yet for some reason, I wasn't particularly impressed with it, I wish I could tell you why, but I don't know the answer, sorry.
