Winter solstice

by lisa marie   Oct 15, 2006

The smell of winter
forms the loneliness
that lingers through the cold crisp air.
we inhale and exhale the emptiness
that marks the change in everyone.
and I can feel the mourning
when I watch the leaves fall to the ground.
for a moment,
I feel so god damn cold.
but then I remember that someone somewhere
can feel the unhappiness
of grown men crying.
and I don't feel so alone.
but it doesn't rid the sorrow
we hold in our lungs.
and when the world breathes on me
telling me what is left to do.
I break down.
we aren't sane, we aren't the same
but we need each other
to get through this winter.
and somewhere in this world
there is a warm place
with hope and bliss,
where right and wrong do not exist.
I'll meet you there.
