Poor Girl

by Ashley Ann   Oct 22, 2006

There is a poor girl
sitting in the street
begging for food and shelter
but instead getting beat

Waterworks filling inside her eyes,
Dirt across her body,
Long lasting sighs
Starving for just a little taste

Not only for a taste of food
Not only for a taste of wealth
Not only for a taste of love
Not only for a taste of health

But for a taste of a family
A taste of a relationship with The Lord
A taste of success
And a taste of escape from a hand and sword

She is a lonely, poor girl
Who is starving to die
The wait for food is so painful
It makes her cry

No family to support her
No God in her life
No job to earn money
No man to be his wife

There once was a poor girl
With dreams of a better life
Dreams of a God and family
Dreams of no strife

There once was a sad girl
Through streets she did roam
She asked for God in her life
And He took her home...

Oh my god, I feel your poem so much, I don't really live in such a good neighborhood, so I kinda know what it's like. I like the whole poem, you didn't repeat yourself and it's straight to the point. Excellent, oh and I'm sorry I didn't answer your private message sooner. I didn't notice you sent me one.
