His Pride and Joy

His Pride and Joy

Their adoring brown eyes,
And charming personalities,
Stay imprinted in his mind,
As they squeezed his hand good-bye.

His little angels were growing
So fast that every time he blinked,
Something about them changed,
Leaving him thinking...

Where did all those years go,
He questioned as he rested his eyes,
Without much thought he knew,
He knew why they changed so much.
---
Hundreds of miles away,
He imagined his three girls
Enjoying their youthful lives,
Without him by their sides.

Only when once a year
Did his girls come up to visit,
Only once in a while they'd call
And chat for no longer than ten minutes each.

Even if they weren't constantly there,
He just knew they loved him,
Like he loved them,
Or else they wouldn't have stopped in to see him.

Again another beautiful expression of imagery and words. I loved the message behind it and everyting just flowed effortlessly. The words you used fit the poem perfectlly and it was quite effective. Well done *5/5*
