Nothing remains the Same

by Once an Angel   Feb 27, 2008

The radiant morning sunlight
Surrenders
To twilight's shadowy embrace

While cool fresh-water springs
Erode
Into a desert's sandy face.

Spring's pink cherry blossoms
Fall
Into autumn's dying decay

As the deep greens of summer
Wilt
Into winter's shades of grey.

Time's great hands quickly
Pass
Into past's empty slate.

While the glory of humanity
Crumbles
Under progression's oppressive weight.

Yesterdays and tomorrows
fade
Into forgotten yester-years

For everything that once was
Changes
And slowly disappears.

Until the immortal truth
found
Nothing remains the same.

This is really amazing. I haven't been on this website for years, but I remembered you and your writing, because you were really important to me and helped me a lot in my difficult times. This poem really shows how you have grown as a writer. I'm speechless. I love this line:

    While the glory of humanity
    Crumbles
    Under progression's oppressive weight.
