The Last Rose

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 11, 2008

The beauty of life and peace grows
When I remember the last rose
Like a revelation that silently warns
That the beauty lies above the thorns

There is wisdom that comes from roots
That is the product of spiritual fruits
The last will be first and the first will be last
When we are done and our days have past

The Spirit of love has so much power
That stems from the root to the flower
Preserve the vine and the fruit grows
Like the beauty of life and the last rose

He came into our lives like a prayer
With the promise he could take us there
With the hope of what lies above
I believe in the great power of love

Nicely written, and very deep. It had a powerful meaning behind it. Thank you for sharing.

It was very pretty. One thing though....stanza-two spaces-stanza-two spaces-stanza-one space. I just thought I'd mention it. It caught my attention. Okay, anyways...It was a very pretty poem that uses that classic phrase, every rose has a thorn. It was great. Five.

The Spirit of love has so much power
That stems from the root to the flower
Preserve the vine and the fruit grows
Like the beauty of life and the last rose
