Every parent in the world who has a child should read this. I think that a lot of the time parents tend to fall into an 'Atticus Finch' sort of parenting, going through the motions of taking care and providing for their kids but somehow along the way all emotional attachment is lost.

I really enjoyed reading this poem.
    The rhyme scheme was wonderful,
and the point were made nicely
    without interrupting the flow. LOL.
    Anyway, great job! 5/5

This poem is so well done and precise...I certainly cannot take issue with anything in the raw honesty you have delivered here.....my sincere sympathy is with you...And my praise for your capacity to release this frustration so creatively is also with you...'-)

In tiny defense of my side of the fence...I have been a parent for 42 years, even into raising a granddaughter who is now 16...and I have never forgotton my own youth..nor mocked theirs...
I consider those elements to be 2 of the most important beginning guidelines for parenting...others include carefully guarding childhood innocence in age appropriate ways and, setting careful boundaries which I fully expect to be stretched as the children grow....Rhythm, Ritual, and Reverence are constantly my Ideals..
Being alive and conscious is a lot of work....being a parent is even more so....I have always hoped and prayed and worked to be up to it all...
And....no matter which side of the issues we are on, or, honestly, whatever age we may be, we have to help each other move forward toward our greater potential as Human Beings....We really do.
Peace and Warm Good Will to you on your long journey...

I guess that was the best combination of such simple words and feelings that I have come across for a long time. Hats off to this creation! I think all parents need to read this poem at least once in a life time! Please keep writing & God bless you!

Even though i commented and i entered it, i never actually had time to
go through it and do a proper comment so here goes.

i completely loved this poem, it was blunt and it was written so simply that you could not mistake it for anything else apart from what it was :] the rhyming scheme AABB is one that is used so much that it added to the simplisity of it. this is a good thing and a bad thing for this poem. you could toy with it a little, make it more in your face more emotion. but its good don't get me wrong.

'On and on you spill your tears in hopes of some advice,
But all they seem to have to say are words that won't suffice.'
    - i thought the second line of this could be tightened up just a little. apart from that its good and very very true. how often i've been in that position i'll never no :[

"Oh please get over it, you'll be fine, you're such a drama queen,
Exaggerating every problem because you're just a teen."
    - Fabulous, its exactly what parents say but in poem form 5/5

''They think your life's as simple as deciding black or white,
Not knowing it's the grays between that keep you up at night.''
    - i love this line, great quote, and one i'll probally remember for a very long time because in my opinion it was the one that made this poem for me it kinda has an artistic flare. :]

'in this new age world we're in,'
    - could be tightened up slightly maybe thats just me :[ it seems kind aout of place.

'They always think they're always right because they're in command,
But when will parents realize that they just don't understand?'
    - now that is a groovy line. ending in a hypothetical question? very talented :]

    overall:
great great poem and deserves all teh comments. its a unique poem in many ways with the cubject context of that. the simplistic flare- sorry i keep saying that but its what i like the best.

well i'm gonna go feel as though i'm writing a book its that long :]

    keep up the writing.
    much love

Wonderful poem. People who are like that should not be parents. Parents need to understand the world that their children live in. We go through alot and sometimes we just need parents (most of the time the people we can only trust) to put us back on track. I believe parents should read this poem and realize just what kids go through. Parents have alot on them to but both the parents and the children need to help each other. But good poem. I love it! This is going to one of my favorites. Keep up the good work. 5/5

    Soo true great job

  • Again another amazingly written poem! This poem I love personally as I can relate as im sure so can many others! This poem was brilliant! Your choice of words, th flow of the poem was outstanding!

"On and on you spill your tears in hopes of some advice,
But all they seem to have to say are words that won't suffice."
    ^^^
I love this, though it saddens me thats its true, the two people you expect to be there, to comfort you and tell you things will be ok sometimes never are! You capured the emotions brilliantly! Great job =)

"Oh please get over it, you'll be fine, you're such a drama queen,
Exaggerating every problem because you're just a teen."

This Stanza Is so true and It gets me so angry when people say that! its so patronising and so argh ol sorry for that outburst but again in this stanza you havn't just chucked some words together but you have written sentances that are used daily! This stanza is greatly written! Good Job hun =)

"Your simple wish you hope to grant is to make them care,
To guide you through when in need and always have them there."

Again another true fact to which many people im sure can relate! You have an amazing way with words and your flow through this poem is flawless!
Your poems from what I have read have been those of reality and this is a perfect example of what real life is like!

    Desurves more than a 5!

    Amazing work!
