Beyond this town

by MeltInHisArms   Mar 13, 2008

Looking up at the stars trying to remember what this town has to give,
taking in a deep breath thinking about this life I live.
The cold air tickles my throat; there's something missing I know,
I wish I could taste the wind and go where my heart wants to go.
I think about my great life and all the people I know care,
but I feel like I'm missing something, something that should be there.
I feel the wind kiss my cheek then quickly slip away,
how badly I wish to follow and wonder else where any day.
I belong some where else and it's just with in my reach,
I need to learn so much that this town just can't teach.
I don't quite know what I'm suppose to do,
but I can't stay here, if only I knew.
My spirit is crippled here, I need to spread my wings and fly,
you may think I'm crazy but I have to try.
You look at these stars and take them as decorations to see,
but I look at them and see important beauty's that are so free.
I know it's true! I can feel it burning deep inside my heart,
I'm destined for so much more and don't know where to start.
Suddenly I hear laughter and my friends call my name,
they want me to come and play their game.
Who am I trying to fool that I'm destined for greatness beyond this town,
I'm just another girl and bound to this ground.
So I put on a fake smile and hide my hearts want to cry,
I take one last look at the stars and just sigh.
