Teenage Depression (The Reality)

Teenage Depression (The Reality)

Tears trickle upon a cheek
until the soul is beaten numb
no mercy found in loneliness
as dignity begins to succumb

Succumbing to anxieties
riping sunshine from the skies
sinking lower with passing moments
spirit flickers and slowly dies

Dying in the flames of worthlessness
hopelessness taunts a struggling mind
will to live becomes a losing battle
in search of something you can not find

Finding your life is now in shambles
dangling at the end of a burning rope
darkness creeps into the heart and soul
extinguishing the flames of hope

Hoping to escape the grips of sadness
overpower the restraints that bind
personality changing drastically
as depression overwhelms the mind

*******************************
Tears trickle upon a cheek
Succumbing to anxieties
Dying in the flames of worthlessness
Finding your life is now in shambles
Hoping to escape the grips of sadness

Don't assume that this is just an adolescent phase
Help me please, before my existence ...turns to dust

Children are our future ... why are we ignoring them ... leading them to death?

    Luanne,

Again. Simply beautiful. At times your pieces leave me so mezmirized I don't know where to start when I go to comment. The harsh reality you have portrayed within this poem is devastating. The things teenages have to go through is quite saddening. When I read this poem it opened my eyes upto this. I adore your work Luanne. The way you bring the difficulties of everyday struggles to life really stuns me. You have a good heart and a thoughtful mind. Keep writing pieces like this, as your teaching people a good lesson. Everything about this piece played with my heart strings. You have a way with words. They are elegant, truthful and gorgeous. Thankyou for sharing this.

The links at the bottom were also nice touch. Truely thoughtful.

    A great piece like always.

    Luanne,

My 18 year old son told me one out of three children is thinking of commiting suicide...
In spite of all the riches we have gathered in our modern world, we cannot make them happy. I have a feeling that all they really need is our love and attention and us thinking we need to earn as much money as we can to buy them happiness(material things) is our crucial mistake. A mistake that we pay a horrifying price for.
Thank you for puting a spotlight on this subject.

    Much love,

    5/5 Ingrid
