Trio Friends

by pookiengurgi   Apr 9, 2008

We used to have it all figured out
So young and curious,we had no doubt
That life was long
And best friends would never have to be gone
Running the streets, dragging you two with me
Wasn't the brightest idea
But the wildness was in me
We leaned on each other, that summer was forever
It lasted only long enough
For us to get ourselves together
The promise was implied that close and lively, we would forever stay
Amazing how life is like a river
Overtime, everything drifts away
We kept visiting the same old shore
In the same old towns, eventually bored
We made plans to get together and travel
As far as time would allow
Before our eyes, this world would unravel
One life to live, our time to shine
Then soon before that chance came
On a terrible winter day, it all began to unwind
Snow flashing in the headlights, you crossed those yellow lines
Left us to ponder on our own guilt and protective lies
All we could think, was "this can't be right"
Now it's 'her' and it's 'me', without you it's a broken "we"
We'll make it through
But we really miss you
And nothing is the same
Nothing is for sure
Though most of us still wait for it
Never again will you come back through that door
