I Wonder...

by ChrisT   Apr 19, 2008

There's no saying how long I'll stay,
But in some lonely far off day-
My orders will take me far off and away.
I wonder then, what will you say?

I wonder then, what will you do?
Will you say I'm still just and true,
Or is it just another complain in brew.
Just so you can make it all about you.

Though, if I stay to let the walls bleed black,
Let the child cry for her dead mother back,
And let freedom fall to an enemys' slash and hack,
I wonder then, will you want you freedom back?

I wonder then, if I didn't fight-
For the freedom that gives you the right-
To yell, scream, protest, and bite,
Would you finally see the light?

Then, when freedom goes away fast,
And your protesting becomes a distant past.
Then, when before your eyes your loved ones passed.
I wonder then, how much longer will you last?

I wonder then, when soldiers won't protect you no more.
I wonder then, when evil men come breaking down your door.
I wonder then, what you think when your freedoms beaten sore.
I wonder then, what'd happen if protesting would stop a war.

Maybe now you'll think twice before you yell at me,
And hopefully you now see.
Freedom is not free,
Thankfully, we are the Navy, Marines, Air force and the Army.
