Dead Man's Future

by Lemon Square Bear23   May 21, 2008

A long hard day, quickly turned into a late-night
He was trying to get home in a hurry
He just wanted to make things right
and wanted not his family to worry

Words he had forgotten to say
so many things left undone
words he was waiting for another day
burdens weighing a ton

Forgot his briefcase
smashed his hand
he knew not the end of his race
that he was about to leave this land

we all have them, just a bad day
nothing working, everything going all wrong
walked away with so much left to say
but all that was left was a sad, sad song.

leaving his family behind, he has passed away
it was a sad sight to see him go into a deep slumber
so many things he never had the chance to say
and here is something you must remember,

life is too short
for things not to get said
there is no way to abort
but you to will be dead

Speak your mind
mean what you say
always be kind
you never know when it's your day.

Wow, really good poem! Semi-trucks are bad news. My boyfriend and I got hit by one when we were going to Memphis one day. He had to get 49 stitches (the truck hit his side). I loved the message in this poem. It was really powerful. 5/5
