Words of the Unborn Child.

by Natalie   Jun 4, 2008

Mother I can almost smell the world,
So close. It is merely five months away!
I yearn to feel your warm, safe embrace,
Your life stories, from which I'll learn.

Mother, you will be my role model.
Although we shall not always agree,
I shall always respect your beautiful act,
The life you will gift me, I won't forget.

Treasuring the warmth within your womb,
I savour this security that you bless me with,
These months teach me unconditional love,
I owe everything that I may ever be, to you.

Mother, something pokes at my unripe skin.
It grabs me and jerks at my delicate being,
The pain is unbearable, mama help me please!
I am holding on because I know you'll save me!

Mother please! I am begging for your salvation,
I can feel my leg tearing, too weak to fight back!
Why aren't you helping? My simple mind can't grasp.
My own blood filling my lungs as I fade. Unfinished.

I treasured the gift that you almost gave to me,
As I felt it being torn, ripped from what I deserved.
You murdered me mother; please do not ever forget,
My barbaric death only a comfort for your egotistic self.

Natalie, this is awesome poem. You really made me rethink my view about abortion. I think you hit the target very well.

It is absolutely fantastic have such a brilliant idea to take the weakest one's view for seeing this process..

Well done and good luck in your contest.

Natalie, this is such a powerful, emotional write. Writing a piece about abortion from the foetus point of view is the most motive too!

You gave the foetus a voice a character a love and respect for its mother. This drew the reader closer to the unborn child, humanised him, which is of course how he really would be, a helpless little human baby!!

You then described the abortion in detail, limbs being torn, screams, blood and then finally death!

I am left breathless and I feel like I have been a witness to such an unnecessary brutal murder!

Your work, as always is spectacular.
