HEAVY UNDERCURRENT

by Kevin   May 31, 2004

I should sit for a while
and give my thoughts sweet respite
from walking
let them settle on all around
instead of the innocent snow
that crunches distractingly underfoot

And so I do
next to some surely named water
that flows with purpose
past my almost contented eyes

the dancing jig of the cascade
tickles into my ears
a song of peace
a song of fears
of oneness
of nothing past the here now
that’s worth considering
save the gently breeze
and whispering trees

My savage heart is comatose
my mind has found an answer
to the thoughts that dwell inside of me
to the fear I feel as cancer

This is quite simply about feeling very emotionally fragile...and then having those feelings balanced out by the calmness of nature...
