Ocean Eyes

by Thoughtless Consideration   Jun 21, 2008

Light meets skin in a soft burst of hope,
Somehow finding strength to climb up this downward slope.
Thoughts nag away at my mind like flies over my dead form,
Eyes refusing to harden at reality, forcing the cells to stay warm.

It's easy to be distracted by your branch-like fingers reaching out to me,
Leaves curled up in a smile, whispering my name so invitingly...
Shadows as tall as lions follow me wherever I go,
His green lips were my world; honestly? You had me at hello.

Now chlorine cleanses my thoughts and I try to rid myself of you,
But I'm growing so sick of your flattery eternally inked into my skin like some poison tattoo.
Your fingers burn heart shaped gaps into my flesh,
Crying and laughing and loving and hating your caress...

Breathing in deeply this sweetly humid air,
Filling my lungs- no more room for this reluctant despair.
Your ill-fated smile is no more than a scratch in my memory-
Now your eyes are a cage and I'm struggling to be set free.

Locked safely in my mind, nobody knew you were ever even here...
Your glow was something so beautiful; my only unexploded frontier.
Now my skin still smells of you, and my veins explode- full of your love.
Can I bring my self to believe you were even real? A blessing and a curse sent from above?

Winter rained from your eyes, wetting those porcelain cheeks.
Stars and sorrow cascaded down from that widow's peak.
Your touch was enough to make me finally feel strong.

And now you're gone...

A scar on my mind,
Something so beautiful I will never again find.
There is nothing of you here left besides the memory of your words at my ear,
Then you said your goodbyes, and you dutifully disappeared...

*half of this is fiction, half of it is somewhat real. in a way it was sort of just an idea that occurred to me and i thought it would be interesting to write about
