Counterfeit Life

by BlueEyedMystery   Jul 16, 2008

Choking on the sapid taste of destruction,
that could only be veritable lies.

Abject surrender..

Filled up with imitative exhilaration,
knowing this is what life is,
artificial smiles,
manipulative eyes.

Forced to swallow this polluted path,
of everyday sinners and unjust winners.

Although very short I loved the way you eneded it with the last 2 lines, very strong and so very true. Seems the people who cheat the most end up getting to the top while those of us who try and succeed the right way are left inthe dust, thats the way It'll always be...great job 5/5

I think it's amazing how much you can say with so little words [Amazing word choice, by the way]. I especially love the line "everyday sinners and unjust winners." Great way to end it, because it makes people thinking after they're done reading. 5/5

This was a great poem. like you wrote at the ending. "everyday sinners and unjust winners" made me think that pretty much all we have are sinners all around us, no matter if they seem like they are good or not. and the unjust winners makes us all feel no matter how you play the game of life you'll lose some way down a path you have to bring yourself up to something you know what to do.

    keep it up.
    keep on writing.
    love always and forever.

I'm just always in awe of your work, Cayce. Not even kidding. The vocabulary, flow...the point of the poem is just amazing. so strong and well worded. ^.^

^^ haha. i need to look up imiative, because i don't know what that means. but i gathered from the context...lol.

knowing this is what life is,
    artificial smiles,
    manipulative eyes

^^ It's sad, just how true that statement is. That life is only trying to force your way up and make everybody think you're ok. sure, there are those moments that you really are ok, you really are alive. but....our artificial lives are longer than our real ones.

    great poem, cayce. <3
