The Four Seasons {Contest}

by BREEawNUHH   Jul 30, 2008

The children pick flowers,
that grow during the spring.
Roses, lillies, tulips and more,
the sight is a beautiful thing.

The sun shines so bright,
during the summer season.
It lights up part of the earth,
oh, there must be a reason.

The leaves will drop from trees,
and into piles we'll make them go.
During autumn, kids will be kids,
they'll jump as their faces glow.

The snow will fall softly,
and blanket the grass.
We'll also make snowmen,
even though winter will pass.

These are the four seasons,
and they repeat every year.
Your favourite will be back,
so there is no need to fear.

This is really cool, I love how in each stanza you wrote about a different season. You captured the fun and joy of each one, and this poem was simple, not to much wording, but just write. A pleasure to read, good work. Keep writing, always and forever.....

Okay, this is ironic, I was going to do a poem about the seasons a week or two ago but couldn't come up with anything. Lol. Soo, this should be a very interesting, fun read. :] Here we goooooo....

    "The children pick flowers,
    that grow during the spring.
    Roses, lillies, tulips and more,
the sight is a beautiful thing."
`This is beautiful. It's a great description of spring. Kids running around picking flowers [roses, lillies, tulips, ect..] .. Great rhyme scheme so far. :]

    "The sun shines so bright,
    during the summer season.
It lights up part of the earth,
oh, there must be a reason."
`Hmm, yes.. the sun shines during the summer season.. :] I think you could have added more here instead of saying that it lights up the earth [although it does] for a reason.. maybe you would add something about the heat or what you see people doing during the summer [having fun, surfing, going to the beach, someting like that.] although, I can tell this poem is simple and is just explaining the seasons in little description, but definatly that would be interesting to have some more description to the seasons. There is so much that goes on during summer. :]

"The leaves will drop from trees,
and into piles we'll make them go.
During autumn, kids will be kids,
they'll jump as their faces glow."
`Fall. Autumn. Great season. This definatly painted a pretty picture in my mind. :]

    "The snow will fall softly,
    and blanket the grass.
    We'll also make snowmen,
    even though winter will pass."
`I don't know if I liked how you said that the snow would blanket the grass.. How about saying .. it would smuther the grass? Maybe use a more descriptive word here.. although I love your idea anyways.. it just sounded weird to me at first, but I think it works beautifully. :]

    "These are the four seasons,
    and they repeat every year."
`Yup, true true. They do. and we all have our favorite :]

Overall a great poem, describing all four seasons and their cycles [what happens in each].. Hmm, the imagery was good. I think the rhyming was pretty simple.. and could have been better.. but overall a simple poem that was well written. Well done, 5/5.

I thought this was a really cute poem.
The last line made me smile, and as you went through each season, the basic imagery sprung to life in my mind and I could really see the seasons in my mind.

    The one verse I didn't like so much was the autumn verse, this line;
'and into piles we'll make them go.'
Seemed too forced rhyming and wasn't quite right. However, it was still a great stanza (Autumn is my favourite!)

    Great piece, Sole x
