Slave of Cold

by The Angel of Secrets   Aug 3, 2008

I am frozen in time, a slave to the cold,
It hurts my body and surrounds my soul.
I am freezing to death, but beneath my skin,
There lies a heart, hidden within.

A heart unable to love just once more,
Don't tell me it's worth it, I've heard it before.
A broken heart continues to beat,
I will keep walking with bleeding feet.

Around me people smile in warm embrace,
I stand alone with frozen tears on my face.
I would step over bodies just to feel,
The hugs and kisses, love for real.

My skin is white from the shiny ice,
A broken heart must pay a price.
Before me there lies a huge battle for me to fight,
At the end lies love, smiles and the light.

But I can not fight, I am too weak,
I know I'll never find what I seek.
I can't raise my arms and pick up the sword,
Ice princess's are abandoned by Lord.

A body frozen endless in time,
A cold soul and a cold mind.
A world to be grasped without fingers to reach,
Words to be told, but not enough for a speech.

But beneath the surface, inside the deep,
There lies a heart, crawled up in weep.
A fight battled every minute to make it work still,
With enough love and hate, to please and to kill.

Behind the facade, in the distance beats a broken heart,
Ice to keep it from falling apart.
Eyes with shiny tears, a cold bastards soul,
I am a frozen angel, a slave to the cold.

Very nicely written... the flow and rhyming were great! The word choice was very good as well... But I what I liked about this poem the most, is how it was written... It just had so many great lines that had a lot of meaning to them. Very good write! 5/5
