Love's allure

by Anthony M   Aug 9, 2008

What is love, but pleasure and pain?
every time it is found, it becomes lost again
yet like the moth to the flame
we all seek it just the same,
knowing the price we must pay
we willingly take the bait anyway.

There are some, that as they grow old
they learn to let their heart grow cold,
feeling safe and protected
from Cupid's arrow that would infect it.
But the cost of turning to stone
is to be in this world, so all alone.

So they let their guard down once more
hoping and praying not to be caught on the wrong side of love's war.
But we all know the deal,
in order for love to be revealed
someone must suffer
that another may prosper.

I really like the comparison of love sought the same way a moth seeks the flame. it creates a, "you got burnt" image. i also enjoyed this piece very much. excellent work. brilliant as always. 5/5
