Clandestine Night

by Anthony M   Jan 18, 2011

Moon shines through wispy clouds
then slowly disappears as the
clouds meet the earth,
fog envelops all in it's path
street lamps cast a yellow glow
eerie silence disturbed by wet leaves
crackling as water cascades through their branches
Solitary car's headlights pierce the damp air
illuminating droplets of water like a galaxy of diamonds
Smoking the day's last cigarette
hidden within this veil of secrecy
I wear the shroud like a protective blanket
feeling peaceful, calm and secure
I am invisible

I agree this was a magnificent poem. My favorite line and the most vivid to me was

"illuminating droplets of water like a galaxy of diamonds.

what visions this brought to mind.

What a awesome piece. The imagery is wonderful. I felt like I was standing in the dark rain hidden from the world.
    Excellent job!

I love nature poems and you have done a wonderful job with this poem. There were parts that had great imagery and you can picture everything in ones head. The flow was good as well, giving one a quick read through of this scene. The only problem I have with it is that you didn't go on for maybe a second stanza! :D

In all though you did a good job and I liked the many different scenes you have painted for us with your words. Great job and keep writing.
