Morning's gift

by Anthony M   May 13, 2011

Her alluring scent hung in the air like lavender
beams of morning's glory bending around the window shade
bathing her undeniably feminine curves,
melodious songbirds announce Sun's golden rays
painted upon gently heaving breasts,
breath silently drawn through barely parted lips.

Faded blue jeans, a favorite blouse and soft wool lined boots
discarded on a quilted rug, further evidence of her stay
long thick lashes begin to flicker randomly as her dreams come to a close,
timeless snapshots beholden in my mind, aroma of freshly brewed coffee
floating down the hallway from the kitchen,
I awaken my slumbering queen, with a gentle kiss and a smile.
