Tell me sweet little lies

by Aish   Aug 14, 2008

You always said youd tell the truth
That you would never fib or lie
But what if that cold honesty
Was enough to make that little girl cry

With your truth you broke her heart
Made her grow up way to fast
Shattered her many hopes and dreams
Never once did you let a fantasy last

You told her that the Easter Bunny
and Santa Claus weren't real
That innocence and precious faith
Was something she never got to feel

And when she told you her dreams of the future
You sat her on your knee
And told her that an astronaut
Was something that she'd never be

She never felt she was good enough
Cos you were always putting her down
Shed finish a dance recital
Just to look and see you frown

There were times that she was angry
And times that shed rebel
She was jealous of her friends dads
As you seemed to her-a heartless shell

There were times she really needed you
Like when her mother died
She asked if shed gone on to a better place
And desperately wanted you to lie

But instead you decided to tell her
Of coffins and three feet of dirt
This harsh and almost unbearable truth
Really caused this little girl to hurt

You told her it was for her own good
Something she needed to see
But i can tell you otherwise
Because that little girl-was me

And i can tell you honestly
With tears springing to my eyes
That all i wanted was for you to hold me
And tell me sweet little lies.

This one made me cry- I wish every little girl can have a father who can always make them belive in the silliest but loveliest things in their mind.

    Well Done
