Painful Discovery

My room is cold and empty
I am just standing there, completely frozen
My girlfriend walks around crying
Removing the painting I've chosen

What is she thinking?
She is thrashing around
This was to be our new home
Is she throwing me out?

She has been so sad lately, so angry
Was it something that I've said?
It must have been really bad
Because she shouted "You are dead!"

I try to talk to her, call her name
But she doesn't seem to hear me
Now I stand here in the doorway, watching
As she gathers all she gave me

"What did I do wrong?" I ask
A cold feeling flowing through me
She ignores me once again
And picks up the unused key

She walks towards me in a stride
No hesitation, not even a glance
I prepare to block her path
She won't go, I won't give her the chance

In a chilling moment she leaves the room
Still crying she locks the door
She softly says goodbye and walks away
Leaving me staring at the floor

She walked right through me
Fear grips my very mind and soul
Is this why she is crying?
I do not want to know at all!

I run to my love and try to grab her shoulder
But my pale hands sink right through
She shivers and lets out a despairing sob
Then she whispers: "I love you."

Pain I've never felt before
Makes me falter and give in
I decide to embrace my fate
Because haunting her would be a sin
