Can you see me not, my love

by Ingrid   Nov 25, 2008

Can you see me not, my love
as I stand here in front of you,
arms wide open?
Do you not see the fire in my eyes
as they caress your face?
Is it so, my dearest,
that you still think back
at what used to be
and how
she held you once, my heart?
Will it be so
that you get to see me
and what I am to you
long after we have parted ways?

This is a club contest poem based upon this quote:
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us."
--Keller, Helen

I really liked it, my favorite line being "Do you not see the fire in my eyes
    as they caress your face?".

Nice job with this one Ingrid...

Words that I have longed to say to someone but fear has stopped me. Perhaps I will send them this beautiful poem you have written. You have done justice to the quote from Helen Keller. A win in my book.
