Barricade

by DarkCrystalbtrfy   Dec 5, 2008

As I walk up the steps
To my world of rhyme
I sense another presence
Just lingering behind
I turn and squint my already tired eyes
But nothings there I shake my head and sigh
Continuing along the well worn path
Realization comes to me at a glance
All the lies and all the hate
Have snuck up on me, somehow during the day
So I pull my door shut
I dim the lights, and I dare those nightmares
To come out and fight
I pull out my pen as my sword and say
Determined not to blink, to have a straight face
This is my life, my barricade
These walls are my home
Where you can not stay
Pick up the pieces of your broken past
But dont bother me here
Because this is the last
Place I can be without your dusty shadows haunting me
And all the lies and all the hate
Surrender and move away
But still determined to come back another day
I shake my head
Breath a deep sigh
And let inspiration flow
For another second of my life
