My love and death

by kevin Boundy AKA the ghost   Jan 3, 2009

Sitting on the edge of hell
Littered with tombstones and souls left to die
This is where the grim reaper sleeps
And it is him I must defy

He took everything from me
My family, my love, my life
Now it is he who will know
The feeling of this knife

I sold my soul to the devil
To make my shadow disappear
Whose the assassin now
Whose blow will be more severe

"Show yourself!" I yell
With nothing but hatred in my heart
A hatred so strong
It would tear a man apart

Driven by vengeance
Motivated by my lust for his blood
I will destroy him like he did me
And drag him through the mud

You took away my love
So in you I must confide
Either I will accomplish killing you
Or you will lay me by her side

Make your choice now you fiend
Do you choose life or death
Make my blood run cold like hers
Or take your final breath

Here lies my one true love
May she rest in peace
Next to her lies death himself
May his reign finally cease

Wow, this is great. I love the imagery and the ironic parallels in this poem.

    "He took everything from me
My family, my love, my life
Now it is he who will know
    The feeling of this knife"

Very strong, very thought-provoking, very sad. Great job, 5/5.
