Temptation

by Sylvia   Jan 13, 2009

Amid rumbling thunder and lightening,
in the darkest part of a stormy night,
a lone stranger comes to call, frightening,
darting in and out of my sight.

Hidden in the shadows cast by trees,
his face can be seen ever so slightly.
Out of darkness reaches a hand, to tease,
and caress my face so lightly.

A voice as sweet as honey can be heard.
Dear lady, what would you give to control,
to have fame and fortune conferred?
Would you give your first born child or your soul?

Mesmerized by the voice of this stranger,
a struggle to answer ensues within.
Overcome by feelings of much danger,
how do I answer, how do I begin.

My life is rich, there is no desire for these things.
Faith in God is all that I need to live.
For my belief, He attaches no strings.
My sins, He does forgive.

Caught between temptation & faith it leaves us in limbo and at the same time tests our
faith in God. A welcome read during this time..thank you :)

    Sivlia,

Reading this, I get the feeling someone tempted you to give up all you had and you resisted that temptation. Well, if what you have is worth hanging on to and you are happy with your life as it is then you made the right decision:) The grass will always remain greener on the other side of the fence, but that does not mean it will make us happier;)

    Hugs,

    5/5 Ingrid
