Where Is My Raft

by Melissa   Jan 13, 2009

Lies as sincere as poetry
swam beneath his shallow pond,
I plunged in too carelessly
and now I'm plodding
like an overworked fisherman
through regards of a murky fable

where is my raft,
why have all the fibers drowned
in a shipwreck of humanity

show me a fact
that has not been lifted
by fiction
and perhaps then,
we'll go fishing
and pluck out the guile
you so heedlessly contrived,

there should be no pause
in honesty...

What a powerful line, and true too. show me a fact
    that has not been lifted
    by fiction
    and perhaps then,
    we'll go fishing
    and pluck out the guile
    you so heedlessly contrived

I`d hate to be the one who this was aimed at, that`s for sure. great write indeed. Timothy r

Your opening line caught my attention & as
for the poem itself, each stanza has a way
for each reader to interpret. This has deep
    depth...good one!

    "where is my raft,

^^this can be interpreted in so many ways ... its like our soul has drowned along with ... and humanity is dead ... devoid of compassion... thats how I interpreted it..

it has so much 'feel' to it... very beautiful write...
