The River(Tanka)

by Jad   Jul 12, 2009

The flow of water,
Flowing down from place to place.
Gushing and surging,
Spraying on rocks and side beds;
Showing the current's power.

    "The flow of water,"

    I loved that first line, it drew me in and was uniquely worded.

    "Flowing down from place to place."

    The repeat of "flow" kind of threw me off, maybe replace with "Racing" or something like that?

    "Gushing and surging,"

    Great action verbs here, the imagery was so strong and powerful.

    "Spraying on rocks and side beds;"

    Wow, this is beautiful, I'm impressed!

    "Showing the current's power."

    Indeed they do, a lovely tanka. Keep writing, always and forever..

    Spraying was unexpected but it was unique and I liked that.

    Current's power should have an apostrophe.

    Other than that nice Tanka.
