Color My Life

Color my life with something other than black and white,
make it your beautiful portrait, darling, show me some color,
paint me a mural of blue skies and fluffy white clouds,
show me a world full of pastel colored flowers,
and a world so full of life and purity; take me to that place,
where the flowers have no end and the meadows go for acres.

Color my life with something other than blood and nothingness,
make it something to remember, sweetheart,
something that isn't filled with bleeding wounds and untimely deaths,
paint me a picture of something other than breaking hearts,
show me a world full of simpler things and confident people,
and a place where fear is far from mind and love is seen quite often.

Color my life with something other than pain and cruelty,
make it something that makes everyone stare in envy,
take away the pain from the young children's eyes,
the cruelty from our very bodies, so something can arise from this,
show me a world full of loving people and caring hands,
and everyone helps everyone out without an irritation.

Color my life with something other than a paintbrush and oil paints,
turn our world into a place where love is real and fear is just a word,
where people can be themselves without worrying if it's the right thing to do,
show me a world where war isn't caused by things we can't change,
where the past doesn't haunt the eyes of victims of horrific crimes,
and show me a world where you and I can be together again without despair.
