An Unsought Invitation

by Poet on the Piano   Aug 8, 2009

A succulent delicacy
-tries to conceal-
her tempting essence
by refraining from
the breath of fire.

An observant fellow
-gazing from afar-
perceives her resistance
and sees far past
the masquerade.

An understanding valley
-senses the coming-
of one so eminent
and without regret
pulls her closer.

A corrupt twilight
-prideful and cunning-
wraps around
her rounded belly
swallowing her whole.

A frightened world
-seeks out lightness-
heading for refuge
by briskly escaping
imprisonment.

Your work is truly magic. Only one other I have read has your gift for words. Your paint brush is your pen that creates images that stimulate the minds eye. Excellent poem.

    'the breath of fire'
`A good way of explaining the warmth the sun gives off..I think thast what youre trying to say here

    'An observant fellow
    -gazing from afar-'
`This reminds me of the collab we did, it has a different concept to it but involves both the sun and moon

    'her rounded belly
    swallowing her whole.'
`At first I didnt like the usage of 'belly' cause usally we use 'stomach' but here it was okay. Nice imagery of a round sun being swallowed by 'a corrupt twilight'

Overall an interesting poem. One of those that you have to think deep about the meaning behind the words used. Not a bad write, just difficult to understand. But thank you for PMing me and providing an explanation. Maybe write something at the end so people arent completely lost while reading this? I know you dont want to give away the concept of the poem but maybe a little hint to guide the reader in the right direction.

    MaryAnne,

I will tell you girl: all you write is magic...but what IS this about?????
I feel so stupid, ha ha ha!
Well, anyway sweetheart, poets can write things no one understand and get away with it, lol.
I loved it, even though I cannot understand what it is about:)

    *hugs*
