The Oracle

by J King   Aug 26, 2009

The days of mankind is at an end
Each fallen step draws us closer to the edge
We push and pull to satisfy our needs
We feed our lonely soul only to help our greed
Always one step ahead of fooling ourselves
And lies taste sweeter than the bitter truth
We bury our thoughts into the past, present, and future
Yet all our efforts lay to waste with each setting sun
Opportunity strikes whenever we open our eyes
But we never strike at whatever inspires the mind
Days are misplaced with weeks which are lost to months
We end up empty handed to save our own demise
A time will come when we will have no more time
To look back and have nothing to show is to lay down and die
The world waits unknowingly at death's open doorway
Slowly reaching inside for the end of days
