Now We Are Free.

by Courageous Dreamer   Dec 3, 2009

Written for a contest
using the title 'now we are free'

Ominous clouds of charcoal
loomed overhead fragmenting
faith into shards, as exhausted
dreams started to suffocate,
they dwindled.

Metal chains anchored us
stagnant to a concrete
ground of depression,
spiraling into thoughts
stained by death's
pigmentation...

Brutally battered with torrential
downpours of nightmares,
the end lingered at our fingertips,
and fear punctured our souls,
yet hope resurfaced in time,
and we broke through
confining bars of hardship...

and now we are free.

Well said Temps, it was insightful and brought freedom to our hearts. The imagery and power you created pounded in my mind and in the end, I was left with a sense of hope an faith.

    Keep writing, always and forever..

Hope does make us free. I was glad to see that hope at the end of this. Well done with the title.
